Domonkos Poór

Infrastructure and security engineer

Infrastructure and security engineer with more than six years across DevOps, systems administration, and software development. I ran the development and QA lab at OPSWAT, where I kept elusive production bugs reproducible and supported high-profile customers. At home I run a hardened self-hosted stack, with single sign-on across six services.

Experience

OPSWAT, DevOps Engineer

July 2025 to August 2026

  • Ran the development and QA lab for an internal team, across multiple Windows and Linux versions and their interop. The lab made elusive production bugs reproducible, and gave support and developers environments that matched customers', including complex network configurations.
  • Cut environment build time with modular VM templates, while a limited hardware budget still met competing demands from developers, QA, and long-running test systems.
  • Created and maintained CI/CD pipelines utilizing GitHub CI and TeamCity.
  • Coordinated with internal teams during infrastructure upgrades, ensuring continued operation under limited resources.
  • Worked across AWS, Azure, and GCP (EC2, S3, IAM). Confirmed product compatibility, automated AMI builds for AWS and Azure, and diagnosed and repaired network configuration faults.
  • Provided L4 support. Kept high-profile customers by troubleshooting their network infrastructure and by migrating them off unsupported legacy versions.
  • Served on a taskforce for a new distributed system. Took part in the technical and architectural design, and ran synthetic tests that mirrored real use cases. The design reached over ten times the concurrent user capacity of the legacy monolith.
  • Verified product compatibility and compliance against CIS Level 1 and Level 2.
  • Built AI tooling for the team. I led by example in the use of a minimal harness that shortened iteration, and built an isolation layer for the harness, so it could be used in environments where live systems are controlled.

Freelance, DevOps and Linux Consultant

October 2023 to July 2025

  • Helped small teams stand up CI/CD pipelines and internal services.
  • Provided Linux administration and support for growing teams.

MaxWhere, CG Tool Developer

September 2022 to October 2023

  • Built internal 3D content tooling, which raised team efficiency by more than 50 percent.
  • Optimized a Blender extension in Python and a 3ds Max extension in C/C++, for a four times performance uplift.
  • Owned the CI/CD pipelines and build scripts, which cut development overhead by 30 percent.
  • Debugged the OGRE 3D engine, and reported the findings for patching.
  • Provided simple but creative solutions to complex issues the team faced in multiple projects.
  • Represented MaxWhere and MISTEMS at a conference with international project partners in Ankara, Turkey 1, and held lectures at Óbuda University as a guest lecturer.

IFKA, JavaScript Developer

July 2020 to August 2022

  • Built Vue and TypeScript interfaces for an Electron application.
  • Wrote unit and fuzz tests, which caught bugs and vulnerabilities early.
  • Investigated suspected vulnerabilities, and reported on the findings.

MISTEMS, Junior Developer

April 2019 to July 2020

  • Built 3D asset tooling in C/C++ and Python under contract, which replaced outdated tools.

What I run

A hardened self-hosted stack distributed between a VPS and my own hardware. Six services share one identity provider, monitoring covers the rest. The stack is how I practice hardening, backups, and identity.

  • Single sign-on across six services, through one identity provider
  • Hardened hosts, a segmented network, and automated backups
  • Monitoring and alerting, so faults surface before I notice them
  • An XMPP server (Ejabberd), a Git platform (Forgejo), Kiwix, and Netdata with SigNoz

Selected work

  • piw: a containerized harness for AI agents, with isolation between the agent and the systems it controls. It is an open-source recreation of the AI tooling I wrote at OPSWAT.
  • coolyourcard: a Go daemon that drives NVIDIA GPU fan curves on Wayland.
  • Lemons: an analysis of an information stealer, including its IPFS and IPNS command and control.
  • This site: Astro, Docker, and nginx, with the mark rendered in CSS 3D.
